Bambi’s first recital (age 6) in TN
✨BAMBI✨
Bambi is an American artist in the nation’s capital and was raised on a porch in Tennessee. Bambi is a general clown, a damn good storyteller, and the host at haus of bambi in DC. Oh Bambi is also the recipient of the Washington Award in dance from S&R Evermay.
Commissioned by Vogue, The Kennedy Center, The City of Alexandria and the Metal Hearts Cabaret in Boston, Bambi dances the line between the too much and the just enough. (duh)
Bambi is a founding member of The Kennedy Center’s Dance Council, was artist-in-residence at Dance Place in DC, and also is the runway movement director for New York couturier Bach Mai.
BAMBI’S WORK
I, Bambi, have so much respect for irreverence. I, Bambi, have so much respect for sticky dance floors. And I, Bambi, believe heaven means finding home in your own body.
In ‘21, I started a free, euphoric dance class series, Party&Prance, that partners with local bar, Trade, to bring dance classes to queer spaces.
In ‘22, I began a social club, Club Haus, piloted with The Kennedy Center, to nurture a new cohort of dance and theater lovers in DC.
In ‘23, I premiered The Bambi Show, a traveling (and secret) cabaret and artist salon series featuring world-renowned guests and artists in DC.
In ‘24, haus of bambi (as a collective of artists) began our Office Hours residency at The Kennedy Center.
BAMBI'S SCHOOLING
Bambi began dancing on a mountain somewhere in TN and formal ballet training with Phoebe Pearigen and Karen Smith. Bambi went on to hate dance after training at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, The Boston Conservatory, The Rock School, Ballet Austin, Hubbard Street, and The School at Jacob’s Pillow. Today Bambi dances to encourage others to fucking move for themselves too.
Bambi was a Rackham Fellow (MFA) in dance film from the University of Michigan and teaches at American University, and George Washington University.
